You are invited

We are getting married on a farm in the Suikerbosrand River Valley, and we would very much like you there — for the whole weekend.

Everything you need is on this page: the running order, where to sleep, what to wear, RSVP and menu selection.

RSVP by 22 January 2027

How we got here

Nine years,
two provinces,
one very patient dog.

March 2018 · Stellenbosch

A misread WhatsApp

Ryan meant to invite someone else to a braai. Liezl arrived anyway, with a salad nobody ate, and stayed until two in the morning discussing rugby and the meaning of life.

2020 · Everywhere and nowhere

Eighteen months of long distance

Cape Town to Joburg, a shared spreadsheet of flight prices, and one lockdown that turned three weeks apart into seven months.

August 2022 · Parkhurst

A flat, a fig tree, and Biscuit

We moved in together, adopted a deeply unbothered staffie, and learned that neither of us can be trusted with a houseplant.

July 2026 · Drakensberg

He asked. She had already said yes.

On a mountain path at the end of a bright, freezing afternoon, with a flask of coffee that had gone stone cold in the car. We drove past The Stone Cellar on the way home and booked it that week.

The Weekend

Where it happens

The Stone Cellar

A working farm in the Suikerbosrand River Valley. The chapel was a milking parlour, the hall sits above the old wine cellar, and the view is the reason you're driving fifty-five minutes out of town.

We are not asking you to attend a wedding.
We are asking you to spend a weekend with us.

Good to know

The practical bits

Dress code

Formal, but ties aren’t necessary

Jackets and dresses for Saturday. The ceremony is on grass and the reception opens onto a stone patio — block heels or flats will serve you far better than stilettos. Friday's braai is casual.

Getting there

Heidelberg, Gauteng

About 55 minutes from Sandton and 50 from OR Tambo via the N3 South. The last 2 km is a well-maintained gravel farm road. Signage from the R42 turn-off.

Children

Family, not a free-for-all

Children named on your invitation are very welcome, and there is a kids' menu and a supervised room off the hall from 19:00. We have kept numbers small, so please don't bring extras.

Photographs

An unplugged ceremony

Phones away and pockets zipped for the ceremony — we have paid a professional to get it right. After that, photograph everything and share it to the album below.

Where to sleep

Stay on the farm

The venue sleeps 44 guests on the property, with a further 30 rooms on the neighbouring farm five minutes away. Rooms are allocated in the order RSVPs come in, so if you want a bed on site, reply early.

A shuttle runs a continuous loop to guest houses within 10 km of the farm from 23:00 until 01:30 on Saturday. There is no cost to you — just tell us on your RSVP that you'd like a seat.

We have lived together and own three toasters.

If you would still like to give something, we are putting a little away towards two weeks in Mozambique. There is no registry and no obligation — a card at the door is just as welcome.

Questions

Everything else

Can I bring a plus one?
If your invitation includes a guest, the RSVP form will offer you the option and take their meal choices at the same time. If it doesn't offer it, we sadly couldn't stretch the numbers — please don't take it personally.
What time should I actually arrive on Saturday?
Aim for 15:15. The chapel doors close at 15:55 and the farm road is slower than your GPS thinks. If you're running late, come in quietly through the side door.
Is there parking, and can I leave my car overnight?
Yes to both. Cars can safely stay until Sunday midday. Please arrange a lift or a shuttle seat if you're drinking.
What is the food situation for vegetarians and allergies?
Every course has a vegetarian option, and the dietary box on the RSVP goes straight to the kitchen. Halaal, kosher and severe allergies are all manageable with notice — just tell us by 30 January.
Will there be load shedding?
The venue runs on a full generator and solar backup. Nothing on this programme depends on Eskom.
Is there cellphone signal?
Patchy MTN and Vodacom in the valley, good WiFi in the hall and cottages. The password is on the back of the menu.
Can I take photographs?
Not during the ceremony — phones away, please. Everywhere else, endlessly. We'll share an upload link so your photos land in the same album as the photographer's.
What if my plans change after I've replied?
Let us know as soon as you can. The kitchen needs final numbers forty days out, on 1 February; after that we're paying for your seat either way, but we'd still rather know.
